For thousands of years, life in the North Highlands has centered on farming and fishing. These activities taking place in the North Highlands, while perhaps not so essential to today’s food logistics, still underpin rural life, its culture and it’s economy across the North Highlands.
In recognition of this importance and to support the North Highland farming community, NHI set up a pattern of farm trading which would not only deliver a premium to North Highland farmers, but would also fund the charitable activities of NHI. NHI still believes in and supports the farmers and fishers of the North Highlands and our model of trade-based support continues to deliver for them and our wider charitable aims.

North Highland Products Ltd is the trading arm of NHI. It was created to support and unite a collective of North Highland farmers, devoted to bringing their exceptional products to market.
With a firm belief in the power of high standards and successful branding, this pioneering enterprise aims to secure premium recognition for farmers and food producers. Our mission is to bring to the global marketplace products from the North Highlands & Islands that make a difference; are purposeful; and help to build the kind of world we would all like to see.

mey selections
These commitments are at the heart of our Mey Selections brand, which exists to help not only the farmers and producers but also to create thriving rural communities in the North Highlands & islands that play a key role in restoring the health of the people, place and planet.
Funds from the sale of Mey Selections directly support local community and environmental projects as well as championing our farms and farmers’ future, so it’s crucial that our standards continue to be world-class.
Our North Highland Scotch Beef and Lamb is produced from cattle born and reared in the North Highlands of Scotland from family famers and crofters. We work closely with over 100 farmers across the wider Highland region to promote and showcase the best farming practices, with the utmost care for both animal and the environment.

We have set out clear guidelines to show our suppliers the standards that underpin our products. Our relationships with our suppliers are built on a shared belief in our values. The producers and farmers we work with all pledge to produce food and drink that will have a positive impact on the communities of the North Highlands and these standards will make that pledge a reality.
