NHI 2024 Fair Work Policy
North Highland Initiative is committed to the principles of Fair Work First.
Fair Work is defined as work that offers all individuals an effective voice, opportunity, security, fulfilment and respect. Fair work balances the rights and responsibilities of employers and workers and aims to generate benefits for individuals, organisations and society.
For NHI this means.
- Paying the real living wage and guaranteeing a decent standard of income for all employees by becoming an accredited Scottish Living Wage employer.
- Offering security of contract, including hours and other entitlements and benefits such as sick pay and pension.
- Offering flexible work opportunities to ensure family commitments can be met to meet a good work/life balance
- Our employees will be provided channels through which they will have an effective voice that includes support and supervision, appraisals and team meetings.
- Showing evidence of a genuine value being placed on equality and diversity including developing positive community engagement to tap into new sources of diversity and to help motive and engage existing workers.
- North Highland Initiative will always commit to supporting people to feel valued and respected and that they have a sense of purpose in work and wider society.
- We will not undertake zero hours contracts.
- NHI is grateful to our volunteers who receive no financial reward for their time and knowledge. Out of pocket expenses are covered. We believe no one should be prevented from volunteering due to their income.
- Our volunteer roles are designed to be flexible and support the needs of our volunteers. Volunteers are given the opportunity to contribute to relevant policies and support.
